My work on THE WORLD OF WOMEN looks at the importance of women in different situations that can and do occur in the world, the way women manage and balance the system despite oftentimes difficult and compromising situations. Being the only young white female Kenyan photojournalist in the world this makes my view of the stories I photograph unique, a bridge of understanding between worlds because I sit between them. Between Agatha, a mother of two from western Kenya with HIV, and western country donors. Between the Masai women in Kenya's Amboseli region being paid a small daily wage as background extras and the highly paid Italian model on a swimwear photo-shoot. My intention with this work is to remind about women's different lives - often in stark contrast in one moment - and to share the intimate access I'm afforded into the lives of those I've momentarily entered and connected with, and as such I must do my best to honor them their stories.
